We have a model battle going on for the Friday storm
now. My favorite model, the European
model has backed down from the big storm solution and the American model did
yesterday already, as they keep the storm to our south and don’t bring the two
pieces of energy together. The British
model and the Japanese model however look stronger than ever with this storm,
bringing us the 6-12 inch snowfall that I put in my forecast this morning. The European, American, and Canadian models
all bring us a light 1-3 inch snowfall though.
However, I thought back to the last storm and I thought I remembered
something about this pattern from last time, but I was not sure, so I went back
and searched my blog for the combination of the British and Japanese models,
and sure enough, here is what I found, and remember this was only two days
before the eventual storm that would give us 4 inches of snow here. So maybe the British and Japanese models are
doing better in this pattern and will get it right again or maybe not. But I did find this interesting. The one difference is that we don’t have the
Canadian model on our side this time, but it is not really a very good model
anyway. My good old reliable European
model has honestly not been very good though this winter at all, and it totally
messed up that last storm on Friday, so the fact that we don’t have it on our
side at the moment is not very upsetting to me, and the American model is very
hit or miss this year as well, and has also not been doing well. Honestly, I think the two best models this
winter have been the British and Japanese models, so let’s see what happens
over night. Update in the morning. Have a nice evening. Loot at the post below from only two days
before our last snowstorm, last Tuesday night.
Interesting? We shall see.

The European and American models
keep this storm just to the south of us, but the British, Japanese and Canadian
models all bring the storm far enough to the north to give us a significant
snowstorm on Tuesday night into Wednesday morning, so this situation needs to
be watched closely.
