European Model Update

The afternoon run of the European model continues to show the beginning of winter a bit early this year, starting next weekend.  Warm temperatures will continue through Monday as warm air continues to surge north ahead of the next cold front with highs reaching the upper 50's tomorrow and the low 60's on Monday. There will be some showers tomorrow, followed by rain on Sunday night and Monday morning until the front pushes through later on Monday morning.  Temperatures will then cool down with high in the mid 40's for Tuesday and Wednesday, and around 50 again ahead of the next cold front on Thursday.  This front will push through on Thursday night, bringing a chance of a shower on Thursday night and temperatures back into the mid 40's on Friday.  Then on Saturday morning a storm system will approach our area, bringing a chance of some snow early on Saturday morning, changing to sleet and then rain and continuing through the night next Saturday as the high reaches the low to mid 40's.  Then an arctic cold front will push through, bringing an extended period of winter-like temperatures to our area through the rest of the two weeks. The high next Sunday will only be in the low to mid 30's, then the lows will drop to the mid to upper teens next Monday and Tuesday mornings with the high next Monday only in the upper 20's to low 30's.  Then things may get very interesting as the European model continues to show a low pressure area in the Southeastern United States.  This time however the model shows the low developing further south in the Gulf of Mexico itself, bringing snow as far south as central Texas, Northern Louisiana, Northern Mississippi, Northern Alabama, Northern Georgia, and Western South Carolina.  This low pressure area may then turn north up the coast but we will just have to wait and see.  If it did turn up the coast it would threaten our area with snow for the day before Thanksgiving and Thanksgiving Day.  Be sure to check back for updates, but right now it looks as if winter starts next weekend and the long range models now say that it will be a colder and snowier winter than normal.
