Early Afternoon European Model Update

The early afternoon run of the European model looks amazingly similar to its prior run through the ten days, showing a chance of showers on Thursday and Friday, possibly changing to snow before ending on Saturday morning.  It then brings another storm into our area on Monday morning as mainly snow on this run, with possibly significant accumulations prior to finally changing to light rain in the evening on Monday.  It then brings us more showers and warms things up for Tuesday ahead of a cold front, leading to MUCH colder temperatures behind the front for next Wednesday.  It shows incredibly cold temperatures for the entire country with all of the cold air from Canada dropping down into the United States by next Wednesday.  The only exception would be the extreme Southeastern United States where things would remain warm.  This would also allow a nice temperature gradient for my potential storm next Thursday, December 12th as temperatures would be well below zero in the central plains, with lows possibly reaching twenty below zero for the lows there, and temperatures in the 60's and 70's in the southeast.  Storms usually like to develop and track along these temperature gradients, and any storm that develops could intensify quite substantially with that warm air right off the coast.  We shall wait and see what happens with that potential, but first the European model does show a slight possibility of some accumulating snow on Saturday morning, and a much higher chance of accumulating snow next Monday.  Check back for updates.
