Mid-Day American Model Update

The mid-day run of the American model looks the same as my forecast through Saturday, with the showers on Thursday and Friday, then a possible changeover on Saturday.  We definitely need to watch the possibility of that wave along the front on Saturday bringing us some wintry weather as the cold air starts to move in.  Then it changes quite substantially from the prior runs of both the American and European models in producing a much colder solution for early next week.  It brings us a snow threat for Monday, with no signs of any changeover, as it keeps the storm to our south and east and therefore locks the cold air in over us.  It then produces the storm that I have been harping about here about for a week already, next Thursday, December 12th.  I still think that this may be the big one to watch, but I can also see how the Monday one could turn into a Monday/Tuesday storm and merge the energy from the possible Thursday storm into one big storm for Monday and Tuesday instead of holding the energy back.  Then I am now prepared to declare the next threat beyond the Thursday, December 12th one to be for the weekend of the 14th and 15th.  Let's see what the other models have to say coming up shortly.  This pattern is likely to get cold again after a reprieve from the cold this week and it will also likely be quite stormy starting this Thursday.  More updates shortly as the other models come in.
