Ok, Now My Concerns

Ok, now that I have had a chance to digest this model insanity, here are my concerns.  First of all, I am now very happy that I made the decision to buy gas for the generators two days ago.  Usually when I make a decision such as that it is with good reason.  Yesterday morning after my trusty European model dropped the big storm idea I got a massive headache and was feeling a bit foolish but I figured it is never a bad idea to have the gas anyway, just in case.  Now I am very happy I got it and I would recommend you do the same. The reason I say this is that in addition to the snow, it will get quite windy with winds gusting 30-40 mph or possibly higher in eastern sections on Friday morning.  This could certainly break some branches on trees causing localized power outages.  While I don't anticipate widespread problems, you would not want to be one of the few without power and heat as temperatures will drop to around 10 and stay there all day on Friday, then drop below zero, possibly approaching 10 BELOW ZERO by Saturday morning in the coldest locations.  This type of cold is deadly.  In addition, at those temperatures salt no longer works to melt the snow and ice on the roads, making the situation even worse if you need to get gas for your generators at that time.  And even if you don't lose power this time there will be a second chance on Monday with the passage of the next storm as temperatures will soar to the low 50's on Monday morning with heavy rains and rapid snow melt that will soften up the ground, then the wind will again gust up to 40 mph and temperatures will plummet once again, reaching zero by Tuesday morning and hold steady around 10 next Tuesday.  Again, I would not expect widespread power outages with either storm, but I definitely expect localized power outages and you don't want to be one of the few people without power with temperatures at or below zero.  Get your gas for the generators now and any other supplies you might need.  Just in case.  You probably won't need them, but it is better to be safe than sorry.  Oh yeah, HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
