Early Afternoon Update

The early afternoon run of the European model came in just a bit warmer, which cuts down a bit on the snow and ice amounts but otherwise remains the same, putting Northwestern New Jersey on the dividing line between rain and snow, although with more rain than snow.

It has snow accumulations of roughly 1-6 inches on Tuesday now from about Routes 78 and 287 north and west, with sharply increasing accumulations in Sussex County, Northwestern Morris County, and Northern Passaic County.  Areas southeast of there will receive possibly a dusting to an inch.

It then stalls the storm out and continues a chance of snow showers through the day on Saturday. Any accumulations should be light from Wednesday through Saturday although a couple more inches of accumulation would be possible.

As for the Poconos in Pennsylvania, it still shows accumulations of 1-2 FEET from about Central Monroe and Southern Pike north and west.

In Orange County New York it goes from about 2-3 inches in extreme southeastern sections to about 10 inches in far northwestern sections.

For the storm total there will be a widespread area of 1-2 feet with localized areas close to 3 feet from Central and Northeastern Pennsylvania up through New York State, excluding extreme southeastern sections, Northwestern Connecticut, Western Massachusetts, Vermont, New Hampshire (excluding the southeastern sections), and Maine (excluding coastal sections).

Total accumulations in Northwestern New Jersey from Tuesday through Saturday would be about 2-10 inches with the highest amount in Northern Sussex County and Northern Passaic Counties and the lowest amounts by routes 78 and 287. Total accumulations for areas south and east of there would be a dusting to 2 inches.

We shall see what future runs bring but that is the latest information.
