Two storm system will merge tomorrow morning in Missouri and strengthen as it moves eastward, exiting the coast near Southern New Jersey on Monday morning. This will cause snow to develop tomorrow evening between about 4 pm and 7 pm from west to east across our area. The snow will come down heavy at times late on Sunday night and on Monday morning before coming to an end between 8 pm and 11 pm on Monday night.
The snow/freezing rain/sleet line has shifted slightly north to about Rt. 78 and the NJ Turnpike in Northern NJ. Anyone to the north and west of this line still remains almost all snow.
I will leave forecast accumulations in the 6-12 inch range considering the possibility of a mixture in parts of our area.
Areas that remain all snow will likely be on the top range of the 6-12 inches and the areas that mix will be closer to the bottom range.
Anyway, regardless, anyone north of about Rt. 78 should expect horrendous travel conditions on Monday as temperatures will only be in the teens to low 20's where it is all snow, and in the mid to upper 20's where it is mixing with freezing rain and sleet.
Moving beyond this storm, we are likely to have some snow showers on Wednesday and Thursday that could accumulate a bit.
Then, the latest data is backing up my idea of the potential for a significant snowstorm for the beginning of next week as well, with indications that the snow could start next Sunday morning and go into next Wednesday. I truly believe this could be a very significant storm next week.
