Snow on the way…
The storm trended a bit colder on the data this afternoon, so snowfall estimates will increase for some of us…
First though, tomorrow will be variably cloudy with a chance of a Lake Effect snow shower. Especially in the afternoon. A coating of accumulation is possible. Highs will be in the upper 20’s to mid 30’s.
Sunday snow will develop in the afternoon between about 1 pm and 4 pm from west to east across the Allentown and New York City Metropolitan areas. Highs will range from the mid to upper 20’s in Northeastern PA to the mid 30’s in Central NJ, far Northeastern NJ, along the coast, in NYC, and on Long Island.
Monday morning the snow will change to rain in Central NJ between about 3 am and 4 am, then will change to freezing rain or sleet in East Central PA and most of Northern NJ, and rain in NYC, and Long Island between about 4 am and 7 am, then will end between about 8 am and 10 am from west to east. Highs will be in the upper 30’s to mid 40’s.
Total possible snowfall accumulation is as follows:
A coating to an inch or two: Mercer and Middlesex Counties and southward in NJ, NYC, and Long Island
2-4 inches: East Central PA, Hunterdon, Somerset, Union, Essex, Hudson, Southern Passaic County, and Eastern Bergen County NJ, Southern Westchester County in NY, and in Coastal Fairfield County, CT
3-5 inches: Warren, Sussex, Morris, Northern Passaic and Western Bergen Counties in NJ, Rockland, and Northern Westchester Counties in NY
4-6 inches: Northeastern PA, Orange and Putnam Counties in NY, and Northern Fairfield County, CT
Tuesday will then be variably cloudy with highs from the mid to upper 30’s in Northeastern PA to the mid 40’s in Central NJ, NYC, and on Long Island.
Wednesday, we will have increasing cloudiness in the afternoon, with a chance of some light snow at night as a disturbance approaches from the west. Highs will be in the 20’s inland and in the low 30’s along the coast and on Long Island.
Thursday and next Friday will then be variably cloudy with a chance of a snow shower. Highs will be in the 20’s inland and in the low 30’s along the coast next Thursday and in the mid teens to low 20’s inland and in the mid 20’s along the coast next Friday.
Next Saturday and Sunday we will have a chance of snow as a storm system approaches from the west. I am watching this one cloesely, as it has the potential to bring some very significant snowfall to the Allentown and New York City Metropolitan areas. Highs will be in the upper 20’s to mid 30’s next Saturday and Sunday.
Next Monday through Friday then look nice with highs in the mid 20’s to low 30’s next Monday and Tuesday and the 30’s next Wednesday through Friday.
