Saturday, October 28, 2017 - Morning Weather Discussion

Heavy rain and strong winds tomorrow…

A strong cold front is approaching from the west, and a tropical disturbance from the south. These two systems will merge and form a strong Nor’easter tomorrow that will bring us heavy rain, strong winds, and possibly even the first snowflakes for parts of the higher elevations of Northeastern PA…

Clouds will increase this afternoon and evening as the cold front and tropical disturbance approach. Highs will be in the 60’s.

Tomorrow rain will develop in the morning, becoming heavy at times in the afternoon and evening. It will also become very windy, with gusts of up to 60 mph possible inland, 70 mph along the NJ Coast and on Western Long Island, and up to 80 mph possible on Eastern Long Island. This will likely cause some branches to break and some trees to fall, causing some power outages. Highs will be in the upper 50’s and 60’s.

Monday the rain will end in the morning, possibly mixing with or changing to snow before ending in the highest elevations of Northeastern PA, followed by clearing in the afternoon and evening. Total rainfall amounts of 1-4 inches likely from east to west across our region from the Eastern end of Long Island to East Central and Northeastern PA.  Yes, the highest rainfall amounts will occur further inland as the center of the storm will track inland through NJ and possibly Eastern PA, with the highest rainfall just west of the center of the storm. Up to 7 inches of rainfall will be possible across Central PA. This could also be the first accumulating snowfall for some of the higher elevations of Eastern West Virginia and Central PA. Highs will be in the upper 40’s to mid 50’s

Tuesday will then be nice with highs upper 40’s and 50’s.

Wednesday clouds will increase with a chance of a shower at night as a weak disturbance approaches from the west. Highs will be in the upper 40’s and 50’s.

Thursday and Friday will be variably cloudy with a chance of a shower as a cold front slowly approaches from the west. Warm air will surge northward into our area ahead of the approaching cold front. Highs will reach the upper 50’s and 60’s Thursday and the 60’s to low 70’s Friday.

Next Saturday we will have increasing cloudiness with a chance of a shower in the afternoon or evening as a weak disturbance approaches from the west. Highs will be in the 50’s.

Next Sunday we will have a chance of a shower as a weak disturbance passes through our area. Highs will be in the mid 40’s to mid 50’s.

Next Monday through Friday then look nice with highs in the upper 40’s to mid 50’s next Monday, the mid 50’s to mid 60’s next Tuesday, the 50’s to low 60’s next Wednesday and the 50’s next Thursday and Friday.

Have a fantastic day!
